Many of us wonder if we will have to go to the hospital if we catch Covid-19. Those of us on Medicare wonder how much Medicare will pay for if we get admitted. The Kaiser Family Foundation recently provided an informative graph on what a hospital stay might cost if you’re on Medicare.  What is particularly telling is the difference between expenses on Original Medicare versus a Medicare Advantage Plan. 

With Original Medicare, most of your costs are paid up front in your premiums. You know exactly what you have to pay and have very few, if any, surprises coming behind.  With Advantage, it is the opposite.  You have very little cost up front but more exposure in the form of deductibles, copays and coinsurance when something bad happens.
