Why We Don’t Sell Insurance

We are often asked “who we represent,” meaning with what insurance company are we affiliated. Help My Medicare does not represent any insurance company. We aren’t agents. We don’t want to be. By not selling you a Medicare Advantage, Medigap or Part D Drug plan, we can offer completely unbiased guidance on what is best for you. No one is lining our pockets except you because we are fee-based not commission-based.

Sure, you can get free advice and help from lots of companies out there who know a lot about Medicare.  Some people like the one-stop-shop approach when it comes to getting enrolled. We don’t blame you! Making all these decisions can be a huge hassle! In fact, you’re probably a little perturbed right now that you are reading this in your quest to get some answers for your own enrollment!

But when you work with one of those Other Companies, you may have this niggling thought “Are they telling me I should get that plan because it’s really the best plan for me or because they get a bigger commission from that one than from another company?” Don’t get us wrong – we have nothing against insurance agents. Some of our best friends are agents! They have mortgages to pay, too. In fact, unless you want to do all the legwork yourself (which is a HUGE investment of time) you are better off using an independent agent to source either your Medigap supplement or your Medicare Advantage plan.

Independent agents see the whole top of the table when it comes to the companies you can choose. They know who is stable and who isn’t. They know (or should know) who has a reputation for really good customer service. They can definitely guide you on price.  We work with an agent we trust implicitly because our clients need insurance to complete their Medicare enrollment. But we do not receive any kick back or compensation for recommending our agent to you. Plus, you are free to choose anyone you want for this kind of help. We just find that most people do not already have someone they work with and appreciate a referral.

When it comes to getting your Part D drug plan, we are your go-to source. Again – we don’t get any commissions, so the plan we recommend to you based on your location, medications and other factors is unbiased. Who do we represent? YOU! What’s in your best interest is in our best interest. And that’s better for you!

Can you guarantee I'll save money on a drug evaluation?

No – we can only determine what money if any, you might save after checking your medication list. We can absolutely promise peace of mind. If there’s money to be saved, we’ll find it. Each year, roughly half of our clients need to switch Part D plans, and they typically save $1,000 – 3,000.

I don't live in Texas. Can you help me?

Absolutely. HMM offers remote Medicare help for clients in all 50 states. We can also help adult children in one city/state manage Medicare coverage for their parents in a different part of the country.

My wealth management clients are usually high net worth individuals. Why would saving a few dollars on drugs make a difference to them?

There is no price tag on peace of mind, and for many, the anxiety itself is very costly.

You might only meet your clients a couple of times a year for a portfolio review, but they go to the pharmacy every month or every quarter. They get anxious when confronted with the cost of their medications. Nobody likes to pay more than they have to, even if they can afford it. With HMM, you provide them with confidence and peace of mind. These things have value regardless of the size of their portfolio.

Can you guarantee my employees will choose Medicare over the group policy?

No – but we can guarantee that they will leave the seminar with a far greater understanding of their options. This improves their ability to make an informed choice, which in turn increases the likelihood that they will switch to Medicare. In some cases, it is not in their best interest to leave the group policy! HMM seminars help them decide what is best for them.
